Volunteer With Us
Volunteering at Deep Roots is meaningful work, and we take it seriously. When volunteer days are available, we want the experience to be worthwhile for everyone involved. That means we schedule them intentionally, not continuously.
Volunteer days are not currently scheduled on a regular basis. We open opportunities seasonally based on what the farm needs and what our team has capacity to support. If you sign up below, you will be notified when a session becomes available. We appreciate your interest.
Volunteer to help out on the farm
This volunteer opportunity offers a way for individuals and small groups of no more than 5 individuals, to lend a hand on our urban farm in a fun and productive way. The volunteers who work on the farm take part in a variety of activities including planting, weeding, mulching, pruning, cleaning stalls, and more. All volunteers are required to attend a New Volunteer Orientation before their first session. Orientations are scheduled when we have an active cohort forming, not on a fixed monthly schedule. Signing up does not guarantee immediate placement.
Skilled volunteer opportunities
If you have a specific skill or talent such as carpentry, electrical, etc. that you would like to share, this is your opportunity to contribute on the farm. We are always looking for assistance with creating mobile shelters, benches, water catchment facilities, or other efficiencies on the farm.
Help us innovate
We are always looking for ways to innovate on the farm in the following areas: irrigation and water management, feed, solar, fencing, soil enhancements, apiary, livestock technologies, planning, equipment and more.
Please note that we operate an urban farm, which is also our family homestead and we have areas on the property where we live, grow food, and raise livestock. We developed our farm with the intention of supporting the local ecosystem/ food system and educating the community about the importance of having access to locally grown foods.
We have early morning and evening volunteer opportunities and will schedule them throughout the year based on the needs we have on the farm.
